Lasagna Using Cottage Cheese
Preheat oven to 375.
Lasagna using cottage cheese. My family loves this classic italian meal. Make it using no boil noodles to save even more time. Cover cottage cheese with a layer of mozzarella cheese.
Layer with 3 noodles provolone cheese 2 cups cottage cheese mixture 1 cup mozzarella 3 noodles 2 cups meat sauce remaining cottage cheese mixture and 1 cup mozzarella. When ready to bake remove the saran wrap then recover with foil. You can bake from frozen at 375 degrees for about 1 1 2 hours or thaw overnight in the fridge and bake for about 1 hour.
Spoon half the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles. To assemble in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish evenly spread 3 4 cup of the sauce mixture. For the last layer use the final two noodles meat mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
Cover baking dish with foil and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Stir in cottage cheese ricotta and parmesan cheese. Spoon a little less than half the meat sauce mixture over the top.
Layer 2 noodles 1 3 of the meat 3 4 cup of cottage cheese 1 2 cup mozzarella. You can freeze the cottage cheese lasagna whole unbaked wrapped in saran wrap then foil. I also put cheese between the layers of the lasagna as we like a seriously cheesy lasagna.
Yes as the name makes crystal clear this lasagna uses cottage cheese instead of ricotta cheese which is more traditional in authentic italian food. Cover noodles with 1 3 of meat mixture 1 cup cottage cheese and 1 3 each of cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese. Repeat ending with meat sauce mixture.
